Heat and Social Housing Project

Helping our Western Sydney social housing residents beat the heat

Each summer, the heat seems to get worse and worse, especially in Western Sydney which has been particularly affected by urban heat in recent decades. The rising heat impacts the health and wellbeing of vulnerable members of our community, including our residents. When temperatures climb into the 30s and 40s, it can be hard to make your home cooler and more comfortable.

The Western Sydney Heat in Social Housing project, funded through the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, was a collaboration between Link Wentworth, Evolve Housing, Hume Community Housing, Penrith and Hawkesbury Councils, Western Sydney University and social housing residents. As part of the project, we produced a range of educational resources for our community, including videos and a fact sheet with tips to keep cool during summer. These resources educate on cost-effective ways to keep cool, based on lived experiences.Ìý

Please share the below resources with your communities.ÌýIf you have any questions about the Project, please call 13 14 21Ìýor email enquiries@linkwentworth.org.auÌýand our friendly staff will help you.
